My sofa had a bright pattern that was showing through the lighter colored covers. By layering with the black cover underneath, the lighter color over it really popped and I have been able to use draping and pleats for different effects. I use both color of pillow covers to complete the look. I also use these covers on my bed from time to time just for a change.
